The Goalie.
Jacques Plante walks off the ice and refuses to play without face protection. He hand-fits a fiberglass-and-leather goalie mask. The shape — eye holes, breath holes, jawline — survives unchanged for the next half century.

Jason Voorhees pulls Plante's silhouette out of a barn and onto a movie screen. The hockey mask becomes the most photographed face in horror. Every era after this is a remix of the same shell.
